2nd Year 2nd Semester Urban Workbase


This is a task to build a gallery along the main street of Tampin. Tampin is a small town located at the borderline of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka. Textile industry was the core industry in the town previously. Therefore, this task is so meaningful if the gallery is able to bring back the liveliness to the town. Thus, the theme of PATCHWORK is chose after considering the sosial, culture and economic context.

By understanding the characteristic of patchwork, certain elements are extracted to transform into architectural feature. The concept of VIBRANT is applied in the design. The uniqueness, changeble and colorful characteristic of patchwork itself reflect the idea of vibrant. Meanwhile, it is a task to create an energetic landmark in the small town as well as bring back the activeness to the local community
